Strengthening America

THANK YOU---Now, Onto the Main Event
June 8th, 2008

Together, we ARE changing District 4.

In last Tuesday's California Primary, we took the next step towards completing the mission we began together more than 3 years ago.  And we are eternally grateful for your support.

As we move forward towards November, the choice confronting the voters of district 4 will be clear:

  • Between partisan politics as usual, and real change that puts patriotism before partisanship.
  • Between a career politician who talks about freedom, and someone who has dedicated his life to defending our freedom around the world.
  • Between someone who sees this race as an ideological fight for the Republican Party, and someone who sees this race as an opportunity to UNITE all parties, and solve problems for our country.
  • Between a career politician from Southern California, and battle tested local leadership who has lived, worked, and raised their family right here in District 4.

Thanks to your support, we are leading this race in the early polls, but we know our biggest battles lie ahead.

Please take some time to explore our website, and remember that your support is an investment in a brighter future for District 4, and a higher standard of leadership for America.  Help keep the momentum going, and join us!

Honoring All Who Serve This Memorial Day
May 23rd, 2008

Memorial Day is a time to honor America's veterans and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country.

And with a new generation of American warriors coming home, it is also a solemn reminder of our duty to ensure that "no veteran is left behind"---not just on Memorial Day or Veterans Day, but every day.

Together, we are taking action with the "Promises Kept Charity Challenge."

And last week, a bi-partisan majority in both houses of Congress took action---passing the "Post 9-11 Veterans Education Assistance Act," also known as the New GI Bill.

The New GI Bill is not only a promise that must be kept to veterans, it's a vital tool for rebuilding our military, and has a proven track record of strengthening America's economy.

Take Action Now--urge President Bush to Sign the new GI Bill into law.

To all our veterans--past, present, and future---THANK YOU AND WELCOME HOME!

Video of the Week: "Been there, Done That, Gotten a Few Holes in His T- Shirt"
May 21st, 2008

Earlier this month, Charlie was proud to stump with former Georgia Senator and Former VA Administrator Max Cleland.

Like Charlie, Senator Cleland knows what it's like to put your life on the line for our country, and he understands what it means to make a keep a promise.

As the Senator says, "...been there, done that, and gotten a few holes in his t-shirt..."

During his visit, Senator Cleland cut this short video, which talks a bit more about why he supports Charlie Brown for Congress. Just click on the picture below to watch.

And you can click here to read more of Senator Cleland's thoughts on Charlie, the critically important choice that will confront District Four voters this fall, and how you can help.

Thank you for your continued support!

Charlie's New TV Ad "Patriotism Before Partisanship"
May 2nd, 2008

On Monday, Charlie's first TV ad of the 2008 cycle will hit airwaves across District Four.

It's about a family that's been in the national security business for generations--a battle-tested candidate who leads by example--and a campaign that's focused on solving problems and producing results. You can watch the ad, called "Patriotism before Partisanship" here.

Together, we can change partisan politics as usual---by electing a higher standard of leadership that puts country first, takes on the tough missions, and gets the job done.

Day of Action---Smashing Success
April 29th, 2008

Last Saturday, nearly 60 volunteers from across District Four descended on our headquarters here in Roseville for our first "Day of Action."

We knocked on hundreds of doors, made thousands of phone calls, and registered countless numbers of new voters along the way.  And the response to Charlie's positive message of "patriotism before partisanship" was overwhelming.

The positive feedback we've gotten from everyone we reached on the ground has been clear and consistent.  People of all political stripes are united in a desire for real results and a higher standard of leadership in Washington.  And that's why they are uniting behind Charlie Brown.

You can read more about the Day of Action here, along with photos courtesy of CD4 Blogger American River Canyon.

Thank you again to everyone who made our first Day of Action so successful.  You know that the stakes in this election could not be higher.  And that's why our first Day of Action will be followed by many more.

And your participation makes all the difference.

Please help us spread Charlie's message to every voter in the 4th Congressional District by signing on as a campaign volunteer right now

Remember, change starts with the actions we take today.

A Promise Kept
March 24th, 2008

Actions speak much louder than words.

Last Thursday, we were proud to contribute $17,500 to three local veterans service providers---amazing groups working in the trenches every day to help our returning warriors heal, reconnect with family, access promised benefits, find jobs, shelter, or a hot meal, and reintegrate into civilian life.

Thank you for making this donation possible through your generous support of this campaign.

And thank you for taking time to learn about the great work these groups are doing in our community.  More than 2,000 voted to determine how much each would receive, and the vote was close.  Promises Kept 1

The Gathering Inn:  $10,000

Francis House:  $5,000

Soldiers Angels:  $2,500

Remember, for many of our newest veterans, the journey home will not be measured in days, weeks, or months---but years.   The challenges and unmet needs they face are not new.  And no empty sound byte, or carefully staged photo op will ever change this underlying fact:  war carries a lasting cost and a shared obligation that demands everyone's attention, everyday.

Together, we are making this campaign about solving problems.  We're taking action to ensure that those who help our returning warriors in District Four receive the support they need to serve, and in some cases, save the lives of those who sacrifice to defend us every day.  And we will continue challenging others to join our cause---a cause much greater than partisan politics.

We have more promises to keep--and we will.

Bigger than Politics--Charlie's First Radio Ad, by Iraq War Veteran Cody Conway, Sgt. USMC
December 21st, 2007

Thanks to you, this past week, production was completed on Charlie Brown's first radio spot of the 2008 campaign. Entitled "The War at Home," the ad speaks for itself. And as an Iraq War veteran who is fighting each day to heal my scars and rebuild my life, it speaks for me.

Listen to the ad, "The War at Home," here!

Who Charlie Brown is, and the kind of leadership he represents for veterans like me isn't about partisan politics. That's why I want to tell you my story.

Cody2Growing up in Roseville, I had two dreams---to serve my country in the Marine Corps, and to become a mechanic-a lifelong passion that began from the moment I was old enough to hold a wrench. When I graduated High School in 2000, I got to live both, as a Marine Amphibious Assault Vehicle Repairman.

My unit was part of the initial ground invasion into Iraq in March of 2003. I injured my right shoulder, leg and abdomen while removing an engine during a sandstorm outside Baghdad in April. Still able to hold a rifle with my left arm, I finished my tour of duty. But by the time I came home in July, the severity of my injuries left me unable to continue my career as a Marine or a mechanic. I was devastated.

A More Secure, Hopeful Future Starts Today!
September 7th, 2007

“To Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States of America.” That’s the promise I made at the start of my military career 35 years ago, and it’s why I’ve dedicated my life to defending America.

Country comes first, and I keep my promises.

So today I am officially announcing my 2008 candidacy for United States Congress in California’s 4th Congressional District. Together with my family and hundreds of supporters, we are kicking off this campaign in the best traditions of our great country—barnstorming the region we are proud to call home to share my vision for a more secure, more hopeful future.

While not everyone who has stood with us these past two years could make today’s events, I hope you all will take a few minutes to read today’s announcement speech, and share it with your friends and colleagues.

Together, we will get this country back on track, and we will restore honorable and effective leadership to this seat in Congress.

Thank you all for visiting, check back often and thank you again for your continued support. I look forward to seeing you very soon on the campaign trail.
